We are a big fan of Caryopteris and ‘Beyond Midnight’ looks to be a great introduction.   It has dark gloosy foliage and deep blue flowers.  Caryopteris works great with herbaceous perennial flowers and ornamental grasses.  It blooms late in the summer to give the garden a fresh boost of color.
